Teen Vaping Epidemic: Tools and Strategies to Use in Your Classroom

October 21st, 2021 at 2:00pm-3:00pmET

Presented by Alexandra Parks, TruthInitiative

Youth e-cigarette use continues at alarming rates with nearly 1 in 5 high schoolers currently vaping. This is particularly concerning as many young people head back to school this fall. In a new Truth Initiative survey, 70% of young people reported that they anticipate seeing their peers vape the same or more when they return to school. To educate America’s youth and reverse the youth vaping epidemic, Truth Initiative and Kaiser Permanente, in collaboration with the American Heart Association, launched a national youth vaping prevention curriculum called Vaping: Know the truth and made available to schools for free by social impact education innovator, EVERFI. The curriculum gives young people the facts about e-cigarettes and offers tools to help those who already use e-cigarettes quit. The course links directly to truth’s first-of-its-kind, free and anonymous text message quit vaping resource for teens and young adults, This is Quitting, which is already helping more than 350,000 young people.
