ASHA Releases a Request for Proposals for Transition to a New Staffing Model

This week, the American School Health Association Board of Directors released a Request for Proposals (RFP) as a first step in transitioning to a new staffing model. Since 2013, ASHA has contracted with a single association management company to provide staffing support. We are appreciative of the great work they have done to help stabilize ASHA and guide us through difficult times. Today, the Board feels ASHA is in a position to better manage operations in a manner that allows us to maximize resources and meet the diverse needs of constituents.

ASHA’s new staffing model will be released in multiple phases. Phase one will be to transition our basic operating infrastructure such as finances and membership services from our current full services management contractor to a new contractor starting November 1, 2017. The RFP released this week will identify the contractor or contractors that will provide those services. In the coming months ASHA will release additional RFPs to identify contractors that will build and grow ASHA’s programmatic operations and fund development capacity.

The ASHA Board of Directors has been discussing this transition for many months and is excited about the future opportunity this transition will bring to help ASHA realize its mission to transform all schools into places where every student learns and thrives.

ASHA Releases a Statement of Support on FDA’s Extended Authority to All Tobacco Products
The American School Health Association (ASHA) applauds the President’s signing into law the new FDA ruling extending its authority to all tobacco products. ASHA supports school health issues that tie to our mission statement, “to transform all schools into places where every student learns and thrives”. Many of the new tobacco products, and the flavors used, are targeted to school-age students. ASHA fully supports the passage of this legislation as it aligns with the work ASHA members do.
