Part II Objectives:
Describe use of the socio-ecological model in obesity prevention as described in the Child Health Initiative for Lifelong Eating and Exercise (CHILE)
Describe the Head Start can play in early prevention of obesity
Describe at least three lessons learned from the CHILE project
Describe Baseline Body Mass Index (BMI) values for a five-year longitudinal assessment of factors affecting BMI in K-5 children across 7 schools within one suburban, working class school district
Describe Results of the initial analysis of high BMI (≥85th percentile) scores using student level predicators
Describe Variations in student BMI across elementary schools to further our understanding of the factors that may affect the distribution of overweight and obesity within a school district
Identify key stakeholders who are in school settings, and their roles specific to childhood overweight and obesity-prevention research
Describe the research findings about stakeholder perceptions on childhood obesity factors, including the range of perceptions from various types of stakeholders
Articulate how these research findings relate to practice opportunities in school-based settings and community-based settings
