2013 Call for Programs Announcement

January 2013

Colleagues:

The American School Health Association (ASHA) is now accepting conference workshop proposals for its 87th annual conference being held in Myrtle Beach, SC on October 9-12, 2013. The theme of this year’s conference is “Charting a New Course for School Health.”

Conference proposals should focus on current and emerging issues and innovative strategies or programs in coordinated school health. Conference attendees include school nurses, health educators, school health coordinators, physical educators, counselors and mental health professionals and other individuals committed to improving the health and academic success of the nation’s children and youth. ASHA, as an interdisciplinary organization, enables presenters to reach a diverse audience of school health professionals.

The mission of ASHA is to build the capacity of its members to plan, develop, coordinate, implement, evaluate, and advocate for effective school health strategies that contribute to optimal health and academic outcomes for all children and youth. ASHA envisions healthy students who learn and achieve in safe and healthy environments nurtured by caring adults functioning within coordinated school and community support systems.

Conference proposals will be accepted for three categories: Research, Teaching Techniques and General Sessions. Please do not submit the same proposal for more than one category. Within these categories, ASHA is looking for workshops, roundtables, and poster sessions. Applications can be accessed at: http://www.ashaweb.org/i4a/pages/index.cfm?pageID=3508.

If you need additional information, please contact the ASHA office at info@ashaweb.org. Submissions must be received by 11:59 PM EST on March 15, 2013.  Late submissions will not be accepted and early submissions are encouraged.
