Dr. Robert Synovitz Memorial Fund
The American School Health Association mourns the loss of one its most distinguished members, Dr. Robert Synovitz. Dr. Synovitz served as president of ASHA from 1981-82 and received the Distinguished Service Award in 1979. The family has established the Dr. Robert Synovitz Memorial fund in his name to benefit the ASHA Student Scholarship Fund.
Bob earned his Master's Degree (1956) in Physical Education and his Doctorate (1959) in Health and Safety at Indiana University (IU). After obtaining his doctorate, he landed at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana where he was a co-founder of Eta Sigma Gamma, the National Health Professional Honorary Society for health education students and faculty. He went on serve as Chair of the Department of Health Sciences at Western Illinois University (WIU) in Macomb, Illinois where he expanded and developed the department to a level matching successful Departments of Health Sciences and Health Education nationwide. After retiring from WIU, Dr. Synovitz worked at the ASHA national office in Kent, OH where he managed a large drug education grant and served as a conference planner. Student Scholarships
Through scholarships, ASHA provides financial assistance to students whose academic and professional goals include the health of youth. The Association awards three scholarships of $1000.00 annually, one each to students in these specializations.

Donate to Student Scholarship Fund
Research Grants
Through the Student Research Grants program, ASHA provides financial support for students to complete research in areas related to the mission of ASHA. All student members of ASHA are eligible to apply. Simultaneous membership and proposal submission is acceptable. Grants may be awarded annually to undergraduate or graduate students.
Donate to Research Grants the $87 for 87 Years Endowment Fund, supporting undergraduate and graduate students research grants.
