The ASHA Advocacy Network is an optional benefit of membership. ASHA members interested in being advocates for federal and state legislation affecting school health programs may sign-up to receive e-mailed alerts about advocacy issues or pending legislation related to school health.
Advocacy Network members receive alerts only when action is likely to make a difference. Alerts identify pending legislation or regulatory action with an explanation of ASHA's recommendation. Generally, members receive less than one alert per month. Although ASHA asks members of the Advocacy Network to respond to alerts, Network members decide for themselves if they wish to take action and are free to decide their position on the issue.
ASHA members are NOT automatically enrolled in the Advocacy Network. To participate and receive alerts, an active member must request to be on the Network. If you are interested in joining or would like further information, please contact the ASHA National Office at 301/652 8072.
